ATTENTION All NH BOAT OWNERS:
The 2008 Boat Decals are now available at the Gilford Town Hall, Town Clerk – Tax Collector’s Office for registering your vessel. By registering your vessel locally you will add tax dollars to the general fund and also support NH Marine Patrol as funds are forwarded from the Town to the State for each registration on a weekly basis. If you choose to use the prepaid mailer provided and send your registration directly to the State of NH-DMV, or bring in person to a State DMV agency (including Marine Patrol) for processing the State does not forward any funds to the towns.
The Town Hall is happy to process your registration(s) through the mail or in person for your convenience. A $1.50 agent fee will need to be added to each registration completed at the Town Hall. If you choose not to pay the $1.50 agent fee, you can pay the town boat tax on the registration and with a receipt you can forward to the State DMV with no additional charge.
Gilford voted in 2007 to raise and appropriate $10K to be used for invasive species management. The funds were used for milfoil treatment in Smith Cove. The 2008 warrant will include a line item in the amount of $15K for invasive species management. The boat tax collected and deposited into the general fund is helping to manage, conserve and restore our natural resources. I encourage you to process your vessel at Town Hall or one of Gilford’s Boat Agents (Gator, Inc., Irwin Marine at Mountain View Yacht Club, or Silver Sands Marina. All agents are located on Rt. 11B) to help fund the efforts to manage our waterways.
The Town Clerk – Tax Collector’s Office hours are Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. & Thursdays 8.00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Please bring in your renewal form(s) that were mailed to you from the State of NH. The owner of the vessel must sign the Registration(s). Telephone (603) 527-4713 or e-mail dmorrissette@gilfordnh.org if you have any questions.
