The Town of Gilford may have from one to four elections per year, not including any special elections.
They are: Presidential Primary (every four years) Town Elections (March each year)
September State Primary Election (every two years) November General Election (every two years)
Dates for the 2008 Elections are as follows:
January 8, 2008 Presidential Primary
March 11, 2008 Town/School Election
September 9, 2008 State Primary
November 4, 2008 General Election
Absentee ballots may be obtained at the Office of Town Clerk-Tax Collector for each election. Requests may be on an official form or a simple request in writing. Each voter must request their own ballot and the request must contain the signature of the voter. The ballot may be given personally to the voter or mailed. Once the ballot is voted, the voter must either return the ballot in person or mail it to the Office of Town Clerk-Tax Collector, 47 Cherry Valley Road, Gilford, NH 03249.
BALLOTS MAY NOT BE ACCEPTED FROM ANYONE OTHER THAN THE REGISTERED VOTER. THIS INCLUDES THEIR SPOUSE.
Ballot must be received by 5 p.m. on the day prior to the election. Military personnel ballots may be accepted until 5 p.m. on the day of election.
