The Building & Grounds Division is responsible for the daily maintenance and cleaning of all town-owned buildings and lands. While some of the work is contracted out to private vendors it is currently more economical to perform the custodial work in house.
Dee Chitty, Lead Custodian, and Jim Dinan are our two full time employees who perform the daily cleaning and care of the Town Hall, Police Station, Fire-Rescue, Library on Potter Hill Road, DPW, Glendale comfort station and adjacent out buildings. The Town buildings are being used more during the day and evening thereby increasing the importance of having staff available for building security and maintenance.
Gilford received a New Hampshire Community Beautification Award for 2009 by the New Hampshire Arborist Association presented by the Honorable Governor John Lynch. This award was given because of the hard work and dedication of Dee Chitty and staff. We are grateful for their efforts to improve our community.
