The Town of Gilford began the installation of municipal sewers in the early 80’s. These facilities interconnected with the sewers constructed in the late 70’s under the supervision of the Winnipesaukee River Basin Program. Areas along the lake, rivers, and neighborhoods adjacent to Laconia are currently sewered. The Town has just recently completed an extension of the public sewer that stretches from Henderson Road to the neighborhoods beyond the village, along Belknap Mountain Road.
While much of Gilford is still serviced by individual subsurface septic systems, more and more of Gilford is beginning to use and develop/promoted public sewer installation.
There are currently two full time employees that administer our sewer collection system, Brian DeNutte and Leo Lavin, meter technician.
