GILFORD BOARD OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS BUDGET REVIEW
SEPTEMBER 19, 2006
3:00 P.M.
The Board of Selectmen convened in a special session on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gilford Town Hall, 47 Cherry Valley Road, Gilford, NH. Selectmen present were Chairman Dennis Doten, Alice H. Boucher and Connie Grant. Also present were Town Administrator Evans E. Juris, Assistant Town Administrator Debra Shackett, Director of Public Works Sheldon Morgan and DPW Operations Manager Dustin Muzzey,.
The Selectmen recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
General Budget Review – Department of Public Works
Director Morgan went through the Building and Grounds Budget and answered various questions. One item revolved around the water quality of the Town Hall, as well as the area of specialized services and the electric door magnets.
Questions were also raised relative to Fire Department maintenance requests. Questions were also raised relative to the Library request for new carpet.
Under DPW Administration, a request was made to re-instate the total amount of $5,000 for tree service.
Other discussion was relative to the increase in culvert repair, as well as road sealing.
Discussion concerning fuel costs and the budget amount was also discussed.
In the area of Solid Waste, the discussion was relative to the recycling amount that was requested.
The Board of Selectmen also discussed the Sewer Budget at this time and the two increases in vehicle purchase and Capital Improvement. The Board of Selectmen discussed the capital purchase of a new dump truck and transferring the old truck to Gilford Fire Department.
No vote was taken on this budget and the Board adjourned at 5:33 p.m.
