GILFORD BOARD OF SELECTMEN’S MEETING
March 13, 2008
Town Hall
The Board of Selectmen convened in a special session on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 6:02 p.m., at the Gilford Town Hall, 47 Cherry Valley Road, Gilford, NH. Selectmen present were Connie Grant and Gus Benavides. Absent was Chairman Alice Boucher.
Pledge of Allegiance – The Selectmen recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Vice Chairman Grant opened the meeting, the purpose of which was to determine if the residents of the Liberty Hill area are in agreement with the Board of Selectmen that 100% removal of the contaminants is necessary. There was excellent turnout for the meeting.
At the request of Chuck Coons of the Gilford Conservation Commission, the Board took a poll by a show of hands, if the people in attendance wanted to challenge DES for 100% removal. The result was YES unanimously.
The residents in attendance asked if a list could be made available providing e-mail and mailing addresses for the Governor’s Office, Senator Sgambati and DES. A list of these contacts will be available for the March 24, 2008 DES public hearing, which will assist people to write in and express their concerns for 100% removal.
It was also suggested that Councilor Ray Burton and Senator Sgambati be invited to the DES hearing on March 24th.
Selectman-elect Kevin Hayes suggested that we might need an environmental engineer and that legal counsel might be able to assist us with this.
Adjournment – With no further business before the Board, the Board of Selectmen’s March 13, 2008 meeting was adjourned at 6:33 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandra J. Bailey
Administrative Secretary
