The Town of Gilford is governed by a three-member Board of Selectmen. The Board meets every second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Hall at 47 Cherry Valley Road.

Gilford's Town Administrator's duties and responsibilities are determined by the Board of Selectmen. This position frequently prepares information statements that serve as the basis for many Policy decisons made by the Selectmen. The position may also include such assignments as Project Researcher, grant writer, organizer, advisor, public relations officer, as well as Administrator.

The Town Clerk is responsible for the registration, recording and management of all vital events and records occurring in the Town of Gilford.
The Tax Collector is responsible for the collection of semi-annual real estate bills, quarterly sewer bills, Gunstock Acres Village District Water bills, Betterment assessments, Yield tax, Current Use, and Miscellaneous tax bills as committed for collection by the Board of Selectmen.

The Town of Gilford employs a contracted service to assist the Board of Selectmen who officially serve as the Town Assessors. Additionally, there are two Town Employees assigned to the Appraisal Office to assist taxpayers with information.

The Finance Department is responsible for cash management, budgetary compliance, personnel and benefits, accounting processes, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and the assessment of water, sewer, capital cost, and betterment taxes.

The Town of Gilford is serviced by a 15 fulltime member Fire Department which provides a fulltime Ambulance Service in addition to Fire-Rescue Service.

The Gilford Public Library shall serve as a central cultural, educational and informational resource for the Gilford community by providing equal access to high quality books and multmedia materials, programs, exhibits, and online resources. To fulfill its mission, the Library employs a knowledgeable, well-trained staff committed to excellent service.

The Gilford Department of Planning and Land Use (DPLU) provides services to the community for building permits and inspections, planning and zoning, code enforcement, and public health.

The Town of Gilford is serviced by a 23 fulltime member police force comprised of 17 officers and 6 support personnel.

Gilford Office of Information Systems is responsible for providing technical support for eight Town offices, with varying levels of support for each office.
