                                      SAVE THE DATE FOR THE LAST BICENTENNIAL EVENT

                                                          Saturday, December 15th, 2012

                                                                       4:00-7:00 p.m.


The Bicentennial Committee, Gilford Public Library, Thompson-Ames Historical Society, Gilford Village Store, Gilford SAU, along with residents of Belknap Mountain & Potter Hill Roads, are now finishing up the planning stages for the final Bicentennial event, “The Gilford Village Candle Light Stroll”.


On December 14th, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. we will be setting up and preparing for what we hope will be Gilford’s version of Strawbery Bankes. We are looking for crafts and trades people who would like to demonstrate how they create their items, and have some of their items for sale, for a bit of last minute Holiday shopping. Businesses who would like to set up a booth and offer gift certificates are welcome!  Inside booths cost $20, outdoor booths are free. Tickets for the stroll will be sold at the Thompson-Ames Historical Society Grange Hall. Cost is $5.00 per person/no more than $20. per family. This fee will benefit the Thompson-Ames Historical Society.

Maps of the walk stops will be provided. Those that would like to pre-buy their tickets can pick them up at the Gilford Public Library, Gilford Public Works or Kitchen Cravings from December 1st-December 13th.

Tickets will also be available at the Bicentennial Booth during the Annual Christmas Fair. 


Some of the events planned for that evening are:

*Gilford’s Town Crier will be on hand and roaming about.

*Potter Hill and Belknap Mountain Roads will be lined with candle lights.  

* Many of the homes will be lit and decorated for the holidays. Some will open their doors for cookie   stops, Hot Chocolate, historical information on their home, or friendly conversation along the way.

* Horse Drawn Wagon rides will be available from the Public Library to The Rowe House.

   The fee for the ride is $5.00 per person. Children under 5 ride free, as well as Senior Citizens.

   This fee goes towards the Bicentennial Committee expenses.

* Gilford Public Library will be hosting a Holiday Open House with treats and many events during

   the evening such as a special book signing with local authors. Carol Anderson and Penny Pitou will be

   on hand to sign your copy of Carol’s recently published book, Gunstock’s History.

   The Children’s Room Staff will be reading holiday favorite’s for the children.

*Gilford SAU will open their conference room downstairs for demonstrations and crafts. Come pick up

   those last minute gifts and support local groups, businesses, crafts & trades people.

*Thompson-Ames Historical Society will have the Grange, Union Meeting House, and Rowe House open

   and dressed for the holidays. Toy demonstration, Ginger Bread Men cookies are some of the surprises

   you will find inside.

*The Bickford/Snow Home will be hosting a number of events. Brian Denutte, Trapper, will be teaching

   and talking about Winter Wildlife here in New Hampshire. Kathy Denutte will be demonstrating and  

   speaking about candle making, using everything from coffee grounds to soy candlewicks.

*The Gilford Community Church will be holding the “Dickens Christmas Concert”. Tickets for this event

   will be available at the Church.

 *Bon-Fire at the Village Field Entrance manned by the Gilford Boy Scouts. Smores  available.

*Gilford Village Store will be open and selling cookies, beverages, and gift certificates.

*Dr. Kelly White’s home will be open. She will be sharing some of the interesting facts about her home.

*Carolers and musicians will be roaming about and seen at many locations.

*Lakes Region Public Access will be on hand and capturing moments thru-out the evening.


Anyone who would like to dress up in “Charles Dickens” Christmas outfits or time era clothing is most welcome to do so!! Those that just want to dress warm, that is fine too!
