The Public Works Department, with its different divisions, has a workforce of 20 full time employees. The Highway Division maintains over180 lane miles of roadway, as well as maintaining the Glendale Docks and parking area used by Island residences and public. The full time Maintenance Division maintains all fleet vehicles and Public Works equipment. The Buildings and Grounds Division manages all town buildings and town owned property, including the facilities at the Glendale Docks. The Sewer Division administers 30 plus miles of public sewer line. The Recycle Center, with its full time staff, is open 5 days a week helping to reduce the amount of municipal waste and sponsors several “clean up” events throughout the year. Currently, the Solid Waste Division contributes over 6,000 tons a year of municipal waste for processing to the Co-op in Penacook.
